2018 Geneva International Motor ShowAt the beginning of every year, automakers gather in Geneva to showcase their latest automobiles and what they have in store for the future. The show is the first major European Auto Show on the calendar. This year, the automaker’s focused on exclusivity, performance, and electric powertrains. The show usually features production models and futuristic concepts. Following is a list of the top models during this year’s Geneva International Motor Show:

 

Range Rover SV Coupe

Land Rover unveiled their new 2-door SV coupe. The car is the world’s first full-size SUV coupe. Production of the SC Coupe will be limited to only 999 units. Every model is hand built. The coupe has power-close doors that have frameless glass, aluminum body and accommodates only 4 passengers. The model is also the first Range Rover to use 23-inch wheels. The SV Coupe carries a price tag of $295,000. It is powered by a supercharged V-8.

BMW Concept M8 Gran Coupe

Although the next generation of BMW 8 Series is yet to be released, BMW took to Geneva to reveal a performance version of the coupe. The 8 Series will take the position of the 7 Series as the flagship model for BMW’s 4-door sedans. There are reports that the 7 Series is set to be discontinued.

Bugatti Chiron Sport

In itself, the standard Bugatti Chiron is powerful and exclusive but Bugatti wants to make it even more exclusive. The automaker has introduced a Sports version of the Chiron. The vehicle features an enhanced suspension, and 40 lbs less curb weight due to extensive use of carbon fiber; it also features torque-vectoring steering. It is available for only an extra “$400,000 over the standard Chiron, which is not much considering the standard Bugatti Chiron has a $3 million price tag.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder

The Huracan Performante has got a Spyder version which the automaker showcased at Geneva. The 640hp-rated supercar will like other Lambos be available in limited numbers.

Aston Martin Lagonda Vision Concept

This concept previews what Aston Martin claims will be the world’s first zero-emission luxury car. The EV has an impressive range of 400 miles. The 4-passenger sedan which features a host of advanced technologies is well “pampered” inside and outside.

McLaren Senna GTR Concept

The Senna GTR Concept is a lightweight supercar built specifically for the tracks. It is powered by a turbocharged 4.0 L, V-8 powerplant good for over 800hp. McLaren will build only 75 units of the model.

The 2019 Lexus UX

Lexus also has a new model which it showcased at Geneva; dubbed the Lexus UX, the car will be the most affordable Lexus. The model which is offered in a crossover body style will have a conventional as well as a hybrid drive-train. It will be the new entry-level SUV for Lexus. Sales of the model will commence in December in the U.S. Market.

 

Nissan IMx Kuro Concept

Nissan was also in the house displaying their latest iteration of the IMx concept. The new concept christened Kuro (Japanese for black) showcases a new style with a gloss back trim on several parts including the wheels.

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe

Although the name betrays it as a new version of the AMG GT coupe, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is based on the E-Class. Expect a significant price hike over the current E-Class and CLS-Class models as the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe features advanced performance features and styling cues.

2019 Mercedes-AMG C43 Sedan

The AMG C43 is a performance version of the C300 sedan. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged V-6 mill rated at 385 hp. It also features revised exterior styling, new technologies, and more comfortable seats.

Polestar 1 Plug-in Hybrid

As you may be aware; Volvo is converting its Polestar brand which was previously reserved for performance vehicles into premium EVs. The Polestar 1 coupe is the first model to receive a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. It features a pairing of Volvo’s most potent Drive-E petrol mill with an advanced electric motor.

Subaru Viziv Tourer Concept

Subaru also seized the moment to flaunt their Viziv Tourer Concept which previews the next generation of Subaru WRZ. The WRZ will be based on a new platform as previewed by the Viziv Tourer Concept.

Smart EQ Fortwo

Previously known as Smart Fortwo Electric Drive, the car will be Mercedes most affordable EV in the automaker’s new lineup electric vehicles.

Porsche Mission E Cross Turismo Concept

This is an electric car for buyers looking for spirited drives. Its EV drivetrain produces 600 hp which enables it to accelerate to 60 mph in a quick 3.5 seconds. The automaker says the vehicle has 300 miles range on a full charge.

Volkswagen I.D. Vizzion Concept

Like other automakers, Volkswagen is also setting up its own its line of EVs. The I.D. Vizzion Concept previews what VW has in store for us in the coming future. The model is a fully EV sedan with advanced autonomous as well as artificial intelligence capabilities.

Toyota Auris Hybrid

Toyota released a new Auris for the European market. This car is sold in the U.S. as the Corolla iM. It hints at what to expect for the U.S. version of the hatchback.

Toyota GR Supra Race Car Concept

Finally, Toyota made it clear to sports car fans that the legendary Supra is making a comeback by introducing a track-version concept of the model. Dubbed the GR Supra Race Car Concept, it is developed jointly with BMW.
