After an excruciatingly long wait, the 2018 Jeep Patriot is finally on its way to the markets, courtesy Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The new Jeep Patriot is set to be a stylish SUV with a classy blend of modern safety features, new technology and robust off-roading capabilities. The model may very well be a common replacement for both the existing Jeep Patriot as well as the Jeep Compass.

2018 Jeep Patriot – Appearance of Exterior and Interior

It is expected that the new model in its new avatar is going to lose its previously boxy nature. And derive design cues from the more modern-looking Grand Cherokee. While looking like a smaller Grand Cherokee, the Jeep Patriot subtly borrows design elements from the Renegade as well, which adds to its design aesthetics. The Jeep Patriot will sit on a lighter and stiffer unibody platform that is made of steel with up to 65% more strength.

The interiors of the feature a futuristic design, modern technology and offer several creature comforts. The quality of materials used in the interiors of the car is really good and does great justice to the design. The 2018 Patriot comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The customers get three display sizes to choose from according to the trim. The information panel of the Jeep Patriot 2018 also comes with two options. It includes a 3.5-inch info display and a 7-inch digital cluster.

The car comes in four trims; Trailhawk, Latitude, Limited, and Sport. The Trailhawk offers distinct styling elements. And also includes off-road specific features like hill descent control, Select-Terrain system, among others. Customers in the market for the new model will also get to choose between the front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options. With the four-wheel drive variant appealing more to the off-roading buffs.

Modification under the Hood

In the United States, the new car will come with only one engine option. It will be powered by the 2.4-litre Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine. This engine can produce 180 hp with 174 lb-ft of torque. The engine is also equipped with automatic start/stop tech. The Patriot will offer three transmission options to go with the Tigershark engine.

Customers can opt for 6-speed auto or manual transmissions with the front-wheel-drive version. While ones with the four-wheel drive version get to choose between a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed auto transmission. The engine on the 2018 Jeep Patriot is claimed to be able to go 30 miles per gallon with some of the possible configs.

Expected Date of Arrival and Price

In conclusion, the 2018 Jeep Patriot is expected to hit the US markets sometime around mid-2017. It will be manufactured at the Jeep plant in Mexico. Pricing for the new model has not been announced yet.
