Opel Astra GTC 2007 Emotion in Compact Class
- Stylish, strong and fast: Up to 240 hp output, up to 244 km/h top speed - Standard: Maintenance-free diesel particulate filter for all diesel engines - Exclusive: Panorama windshield creates unique sense of space and visibility
When Opel Astra GTC (Gran Turismo Compact) came onto the market in March 2005, the automotive press dubbed it "possibly the most exciting Astra ever". Launched in the fall of 2005, the exclusive high-performance Astra OPC with 240 turbo hp is the top-of-the-line car in this model range with a maximum speed of 244 km/h. The three-door GTC's striking design features sporty proportions and a sleek silhouette with an arched, sloping roofline and pronounced tapering of the front and rear. Lowered to magnify the Astra GTC's powerful look, the expressively designed body is completely new - only the hood and front fender were taken over from the five-door Astra. Opel Astra GTC's unique character is accentuated by a world premiere: the optional panorama windshield extends from the hood up into the roof to the B-pillar and creates a whole new sense of space and visibility.
New in model year 2007
Opel Astra GTC goes into the 2007 model year featuring better looks and enhanced technology. Previously only mated with a five-speed manual gearbox, the 103 kW/140 hp 1.8 ECOTEC engine is now also available with four-speed automatic transmission. The GTC with the 1.3 CDTI engine boasts additional operating comfort: the common-rail turbo-diesel can now be optionally coupled with an automated six-speed Easytronic manual gearbox.
The 2007 Opel Astra GTC sets new accents in looks with optional two-coat pearlescent petrol green lacquer, as well as alloy wheels in five-spoke sports design with 17 or 16-inch diameter (standard with Astra GTC Sport). The even more dynamic look continues in the interior with leather steering wheel and Visibility package (Edition), as well as comfort front seats in a sporty look (standard in Cosmo). Also standard in the Edition, Sport, Cosmo and OPC variants, Park Pilot automatically alerts the driver with an audible warning signal if rear clearance becomes tight during maneuvering. In addition, the Astra GTC can be ordered with the new Comfort Plus package, which includes Electronic Climate Control (ECC), stereo CD 70 Navi system and onboard computer. A practical new standard feature in the Astra's luggage compartment: four lashing eyes help better secure cargo.
Design and packaging
Opel Astra GTC 2007 owes its powerful look to its sporty proportions. The dynamic, V-shaped front end with Opel logo on the radiator grille and characteristic crease clearly identify the GTC as a member of the successful Astra family. Tapering much more pronounced than the five-door model's, bumper with sportier design, a modified radiator grille and larger air inlets give the GTC an individual and unmistakable face.
Opel Astra GTC 2007 achieves its sporty look without compromise in terms of everyday functionality and spaciousness. It has the same wheelbase as the sedan, and headroom in the GTC is only reduced slightly thanks to a lower seating position. In addition, the GTC has a generous and practical luggage compartment volume of 340 liters. The rear bench seat back can be split and folded forward for more flexible use of interior space.
