S.C.A.R. - Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo (Alfa Romeo Racing Team) will be launched in spring 2005 and promises to be one of best and most original of its kind. The development of SCAR was entrusted to the award-winning company, Milestone, and is now being fine-tuned to run on Playstation 2, Xbox, PC`s and laptops..
SCAR, `Squadra Corse Alfa Romeo`, is a driving simulation game that combines an ultra-realistic environment and exciting graphics with all the classic elements of Role Playing games, thus becoming the first 'CARPG' ever created. For the first time in a driving game, players can improve their driving ability instead of being limited simply to changing their cars, and can compare the various abilities acquired to select those required for each competition, an essential element in achieving victory.
As well as being able to drive their favourite Alfa Romeo, players can also choose the abilities they want to have, in order to improve their results, such as calibrating the weight of each ability acquired: reflexes, eye-hand coordination and the ability to handle the stress of high-speed track racing. A skill level unique to SCAR is the Tiger Effect, which enables the driver to go back in time and correct any potential driving errors
In SCAR all the adversaries controlled by the game`s artificial intelligence software are based on a complex combination of skills and characteristics: that way, every AI opponent has unique, individual characteristics, meaning that each race is always unpredictable.
Thanks to the variety of tracks available, players can practice their `fast & furious` style of driving on the road and in races, with road races in exotic Italian landscapes ranging from the hills of Tuscany to the Naples coast, to the streets of Milan and Florence. To ensure the maximum realism, SCAR uses genuine recordings of Alfa Romeo engine sounds, the original CAD data and all the technical details of the Alfa Romeo cars, kindly provided by the Alfa engineering departments.
