SEAT awarded for technological innovations
New Distinction Awarded by "Automobilclub Von Deutschland"





SEAT President Erich Schmitt accepted the "AvD Innovationspreis 2006" award granted annually by Germany's motoring club "Automobilclub von Deutschland" (AvD). The jury panel chose SEAT for two technological solutions developed at the Martorell Technical Centre. Both systems improve safety with no additional cost to the buyer - the vertical wiper arms located on the side pillars of the windscreen and the structural improvements carried out to minimise pedestrian injuries in the event of collision.
 
The first element, which has been fitted on the Altea, Altea XL, Leon and Toledo, improves the models' design contour and aerodynamics. It is also beneficial to safety for its broad sweeping capacity.
 
The second element recognised by the award is a result of SEAT's design efforts in protecting passengers and pedestrians, especially the careful engineering of easily deforming, non-aggressive zones that absorb a lot of energy at the front end of the vehicle.
