CDL Colour Display Logger from GEMS






The CDL colour display is part of the next generation of the GEMS family of intelligent colour displays. Combining many of the features of the rally-proven CD22 display with an integrated data logger makes the CDL a simple to install, space efficient and cost effective one-box solution for all your logging, display and co-driver requirements.


The system can be installed with both a permanent and switched power feed. When the switched power is turned off, the display goes into a low power suspend mode which draws less than 0.1A current. When the switched power is turned back on, the display resumes immediately thus avoiding the lengthy start up times experienced by other colour display systems.


One of the key features of GEMS colour displays is the large number of user-designable screens. This allows screens to be designed for driver, co-driver or engineer use and enables the display to be used to provide information on all connected car systems. The CDL offers sixteen selectable screens that are configured remotely using the CDLE software for Microsoft® Windows©. This is a What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor which allows custom screens to be quickly designed. The completed display configuration file is then uploaded to the display via an Ethernet link.


The integrated data logger of the CDL is fitted with 32Mb of logging memory as standard. The logger can acquire data from other ECUs via a CAN or serial link and four speed and sixteen analogue channels enable additional instrumentation to be added. Log data is downloaded via an Ethernet link that allows a full logging memory to be downloaded in around 30 seconds.


Rally co-driver functionality is provided with the provision of button inputs and time and trip meter gauges. Four speed inputs allow the CDL to be easily used as a replacement for a Coralba or equivalent trip meter.
