K&N's 2006 Honda Civic SiR Displayed at LA Auto Show





A very special 2006 K&N Civic SiR was proudly displayed inside the 2006 LA Auto Show this January. It is a K&N Engineering vehicle highly modified by K&N employees. Our company has a history with this concept Honda vehicle.

The 2006 Honda Civic SiR was selected as car of the show for SEMA (The Specialty Equipment Market Association) 2005. Within the automotive industry it is known that the manufacturer makes an allotment of cars available before SEMA. The purpose is to give the selected vehicle some off the market exposure. There was an allotment of only 20 of the SiR's available for the entire country. We went after one of the Civics.

K&N Engineering put together an artist rendering of our idea for the vehicle. We were able to put it together from images Honda released at the Chicago Auto Show. We came up with a concept and submitted it. That idea included other companies we worked with previously to allow for various components. Our concept went miles beyond the shell of the car straight into the internal mechanisms for a complete picture of the 2006 K&N Civic SiR.

Honda liked our idea and awarded K&N a stock Honda in 2005. The car came to us blue, only 6 weeks before SEMA. In the first two days we stripped it bare, took out the engine and the entire interior. We had to build the car and get it going by the November show.

K&N then took the car to the shaper for the body kit and mold design. Once that was completed the car was painted inside and out. "Sunset Pearl" was our color.

K&N Engineers took the stock car and worked in a short time to build a show car, we did not design the Civic but the car is considered unique to K&N.

SEMA is a display of more than 500 of the best cars from around the country, some have said from around the world. It's highly competitive, because everyone wants to make the best car possible.

K&N employees finished the SiR in only six weeks. This task was accomplished and done exceptionally well.
