| Mazda at 2006 Paris Motor Show
Mazda comes to the Paris Motor Show riding a wave of sales momentum and double-digit growth this year in Europe. The stand in Paris reflects this success with a line up of vehicles that exudes confidence and Zoom-Zoom fun. Two European premieres are on display. There is the new Mazda CX-7 SUV that is a unique mix of sports car performance and design and SUV comfort and functionality; and the Mazda Senku show car with several futuristic technologies that could someday be used in a Mazda sports car. Sharing the stage with them are two exciting new models, the MX-5 Roadster Coupe with a power retractable hard top for open top fun and convenience, and the all-new Mazda BT-50 pickup that combines tough, four-wheel drive practicality and the promise of off-road adventure with sedan-like style and comfort. Rounding out the line up at Paris is Mazda at its Zoom-Zoom best, with one of the world's most powerful front-wheel drive compacts, the Mazda3 MPS.
Mazda CX-7 - The Sports Car SUV
Mazda shook up the automotive world at the L.A. and North American International Auto Shows earlier this year when it first showed the Mazda CX-7, a new crossover vehicle combining Zoom-Zoom performance and design with SUV creature comforts. Mazda had done it again, this time with a sports car SUV that is now coming to Europe, set for launch next year. On the outside, the Mazda CX-7 looks like a sports car, with its aggressive windshield angle, large lower air intake, flowing roof line, and muscular fenders housing 18-inch wheels. Under the bonnet the CX-7 is even more a sports car, with a powerful MZR 2.3L DISI Turbo petrol engine that produces 190 kW/258 PS of maximum power at 5,500 rpm and 380 Nm of maximum torque at just 3,000 rpm for a truly sporty driving experience. All these sporty attributes are combined with SUV visibility, interior comfort and flexibility, and a long list of standard equipment, making Mazda CX-7 an ideal vehicle for an urban lifestyle.
Mazda Senku - Graceful Simplicity
The Mondial de l'Automobile 2006 is the first European showing of the Mazda Senku concept car, winner of the prestigious Grand Prix Du Plus Beau Concept Car at the XXIth Festival Automobile International in Paris. With featu- res that indicate what a possible future Mazda sports car could look like, Senku is a unique mix of sharpness and mellowness that elicits a strong emotional appeal. It has electric sliding doors, called "flying wing doors" by desi- gners, solar panels in the roof and a hybrid powertrain concept that combines Mazda rotary engine technology with an electric motor for low consumption and emissions.
Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe - Open Top Fun, Coupe Convenience
Mazda comes to Paris with great news for all fans of sporty, open top driving. A new Mazda MX-5 Roadster Coupe with a power retractable hard top will be introduced by the end of the year in Europe that delivers coupe convenience and comfort with open top roadster fun. Blessed with the same one-with-the-car driving attributes as the third-generation soft top MX-5, the new Roadster Coupe adds convenience to the formula with a hard top that retracts in just 12 seconds into a space behind the seats, leaving the boot untouched. With the top up, the Mazda Roadster Coupe sports a relatively high rear deck without compromising the car's low-slung roadster look. The result is a unique Zoom-Zoom coupe designed to expand the fan base of the world's best- selling roadster even more.
