| Minority Supplier Wins Pontiac Solstice from General Motors Solstice raffle part of effort to raise money for the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund
General Motors announced that Doward Freeman, president of Centerline Die & Engineering, has won a new 2006 Pontiac Solstice. Freeman won the car at the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, 14 th Annual Hank Aguirre Golf Outing held in August.
GM provided the Pontiac Solstice to help raise money for the Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce scholarship fund. More than $475,000 was generated at the event and the Solstice was raffled off during a dinner at the Cherry Creek Country Club in Shelby Township, Mich.
"The Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been a key conduit for companies that want to engage GM through our Supplier Diversity Program," said Jimmy McDonald, executive director, Powertrain Components, Raw Materials and Supplier Diversity, GM Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "We were pleased to again participate in the Hank Aguirre golf outing and to provide a Pontiac Solstice to support the scholarship efforts of the MHCC."
"As an executive board member of the Macomb Chamber of Commerce, I make an effort to support other chamber events as well," said Freeman. "I've participated in the MHCC's Hank Aguirre golf outing in the past and always had a good time. This time around I also picked up a few raffle tickets for myself and the customers I brought along to the outing. The scholarship fund is a great cause, and I was quite surprised to win the car."
Freeman picked up his new Solstice in November and despite the cool fall weather in Michigan, he has found time to enjoy the convertible.
"I haven't had the top down much and have only had time to drive it a few times, but I love it. And everywhere I go I get compliments from people on the street. It's a great car."
