SEAT at the Paris Motor Show - SEAT Cordoba
Enhanced range of petrol engines

- 85 hp 1.4 entry-level engine for the petrol range
- Three trim lines available: Reference, Stylance and Sport
- Interesting new connectivity options available

The 2006 SEAT Cordoba line-up includes the new 1.4 with an output of 85 hp, replacing the 75 hp manual model (the 75 hp 1.4 will continue to be sold in automatic guise). Compared to the 13.6 seconds that the 75 hp model takes to sprint from standstill to 100 km/h, the new 85 hp 1.4 is 1.25 seconds quicker with a time of 12.4 seconds. In-gear acceleration is also quicker, with the 85 hp model requiring 16.0 seconds to speed up from 60 to 100 km/h, 2.0 seconds less than the 75 hp engine's 18 seconds.

Fuel consumption on the open road has been cut back, with the new engine burning just 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres on the extra-urban cycle compared to 5.3 litres for the previous engine. The urban and combined figures are unchanged from the 75 hp engine at 8.5 and 6.4 l/100 km respectively.

The Cordoba presents a choice of 13 model variations. These result from combining its three trim lines - Reference, Stylance and Sport - with a total of seven power units. These include three petrol models - the two 1.4 16v petrol engines with outputs of 85 hp and 100 hp and the 75 hp 1.4 16v Automatic - plus four TDI models in the form of the 70 hp and 80 hp 1.4 engines (available with DPF) and the two 1.9 litre units developing 100 hp (available with DPF) and 130 hp.

Restyled interior with added appeal

But it's not just the engine that has changed. The interior of the Cordoba has also undergone something of a transformation courtesy of an array of detail modifications, most notably in terms of the quality of the materials used which are now softer and more pleasant to the touch.

The same improvement in quality and styling is mirrored in the colour scheme for the seat upholstery and panelling as well as in the new steering wheels and gear levers. The result is an interior that pampers the customer with a more sophisticated design, a more welcoming feel and superior appointments.

Comprehensive standard specification

Like the Ibiza, the SEAT Cordoba also adds a port for connecting an iPod, a USB memory stick (pen drive) or an MP3 player with a USB connection, to its list of optional extras. The port is housed inside the glove compartment. Likewise, customers are also able to have an auxiliary audio connection fitted by opting for the radio/MP3 package with steering-wheel audio controls.

Reference*: Standard equipment includes, amongst other features: ABS, driver and front passenger airbag, electro-hydraulic power steering, front power windows with one-touch control and anti-trap facility, remote-controlled central locking, new 15-inch steel wheels with a new hubcap design, 195/55 tyres, radio/CD player with six speakers, height-adjustable front seats, split-folding rear seat with Isofix anchoring points for child seats, third brake light integrated into the centre of the boot lid, tinted windows, roof-mounted anti-theft roof aerial, height and reach-adjustable steering wheel, front seatbelts with electric pre-tensioners, three-point seatbelts and three headrests in the rear, as well as twin headlights.
