| | | | New entry-level engine for range
The SEAT Leon line-up has been expanded by the addition of a new entry-level petrol engine: the 1.4 16v developing 85 hp. The new model offers very modest fuel consumption of just 7.0 litres per 100 kilometres on the combined cycle, and covers 1,000 metres from a standing start in 35.2 seconds.
The petrol range is completed - excluding the FR model - by the 1.6 indirect-injection engine generating 102 hp (75 kW) and the 150 hp (110 kW) 2.0 FSI power unit. Customers buying cars with diesel engines, meanwhile, are able to choose from the 1.9 TDI with 105 hp (77 kW) or the 2.0 TDI model producing 140 hp (103 kW), both available con DPF.
The 1.6 petrol and 1.9 TDI engines are coupled with a five-speed manual gearbox, while the more powerful models (2.0 FSI and 2.0 TDI) are partnered by a six-speed gear change. The 2.0 FSI offers a choice of either a manual or an automatic gearbox, the latter with sequential Tiptronic function, and the 2.0 TDI can be ordered with either the DSG automated gearshift or a traditional manual gearbox, both with six gears.
