SEAT at the Paris Motor Show - SEAT TOLEDO
Innovative saloon concept with engines of to 170 hp

- Range comprising three trim lines, two petrol and three diesel engines as well as manual, Tiptronic and DSG gearshifts
- New bi-xenon headlights with AFS, standard on Stylance and Sport-up
- Large boot capacity that can be varied between 500 and 601 litres

The SEAT Toledo range has been expanded by the addition of the new 170 hp 2.0 TDI. Developed based on the 103 kW (140 hp), the new engine puts 125 kW (170 hp) of power on tap, delivers peak torque of 350 Nm at 1800 rpm and is partnered by a six-speed manual gearbox whose ratios have been fine-tuned for this model. The geometry of the turbocharger has been optimised and the engine now incorporates high-pressure direct diesel injection technology in the form of the Piezo Pump Nozzle system with its piezoelectric injectors. The engine complies with the EU4 emissions standard and also comes with a zero-maintenance DPF diesel particulate filter system.

As a result, acceleration and overall performance in this latest Toledo model is on a par with a sporty, petrol-powered car: 8.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h from standstill and a top speed of 211 km/h. The figures for in-gear acceleration also make impressive reading: 8.9 and 11.4 seconds to speed up from 80 to 120 km/h in fifth and sixth gears respectively. Despite such dynamism, however, the inherent efficiency of the diesel powerpack still makes its presence felt in the highly respectable fuel consumption figures of 8.0 litres (urban), 5.2 litres (extra-urban) and 6.2 litres (combined) per 100 kilometres of driving.

Although no modifications to the chassis were required compared with the rest of the engines in the range, the new model is specially equipped with larger-sized brakes. Plus, the two trim lines it is available in, Stylance and Sport-up, both feature firmer suspension settings that are better matched to this engine's greater power and performance.

Highest level of standard specification ever

All of the models in the SEAT Toledo range come complete with a generous standard specification. The Stylance and Sport-up versions provide a particularly fine example of this, with standard equipment lists that include such innovative features as bi-xenon headlights with the Advanced Front Lighting System (AFS), an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, an audio system with MP3-compatible CD player and Aux-in audio connection, as well as a parking sensor, a sensor for automatically switching on the headlights and a rain sensor. All of this plus the various connectivity options which are now available to choose from, such as the iPod connector or the USB port for MP3 devices with an appropriate connection.

Another impressive feature is the Toldedo's enormous boot capacity. The 500 litres of boot space can be increased to as much as 601 litres thanks to the rear seats' ability to slide forwards by a maximum of 14 centimetres.

The new range in detail

The range's four three lines, Reference, Stylance and Sport-up, combine with a choice of two petrol engines - the 2.0 FSI developing 150 hp and the 102 hp 1.6 - and three diesel units, namely the 140 hp (available with DPF) and 170 hp 2.0 TDI models and the 1.9 TDI with an output of 105 hp (available with DPF). The 2.0 FSI is also available with an automatic and sequential Tiptronic gearshift, while the 140 hp 2.0 TDI can also be specified in conjunction with the new DSG gearshift.
