Note that integration of the central seat belt in the seat back makes it easier to locate and therefore provides greater incentive to use it.

The effectiveness of these seat belts is strengthened by the design of the rear seats, which prevents passengers from being subjected to the "submarining" effect, which can occur in the event of impact.

To increase safety by encouraging the seat belt to be worn, audible and visual fasten
seat belt warnings are fi tted on most Peugeot 207s (Fastening of the driver's seat belt for the entry level Peugeot 207). A dedicated screen indicates seat belt status through the display of red or green pictograms.

Two 3-point Isofix mountings...

All Peugeot 207s are equipped with two 3-point Isofix mountings in the rear outer seats, each of which can accommodate a child's Isofix car safety seat.


Pedestrians taken into account ...

Research was undertaken during the earliest stages of the design to ensure the new European directive, to reduce injuries to pedestrians in the event of collision, were achieved by the design of the dual impact structures in the engine compartment.

For example, protection of the lower limbs is assured by an absorbent padding on the impact beam of the upper structure, while a composite pedestrian impact beam with integral impact absorbers is positioned as the final element of the lower structure and pushes the leg aside to avoid serious knee injuries.

Also, the underside of the bonnet has been designed to provide maximum space between the bonnet and mechanical components. This "survival zone" thus protects the head and body of a pedestrian, which can be pushed back over a large distance without hitting any hard objects.

Lastly, along the same lines, the headlights are equipped with "fuseable" mountings that "direct" the headlamps to move backwards under the bonnet in the event of an impact.

The "survival zone" and the programmed "flexibility" of the headlamp mountings mean that the front structure can absorb a high percentage of the impact energy, thereby reducing injury to pedestrians.
