The mid-range 120hp (88kW) version is more flexible than its predecessor, with maximum torque of 300Nm, up from 290Nm. It is available with an optional particulate filter. Combined-cycle fuel consumption is 8.7l per 100km*.

The 100hp (74kW) version repositions New Renault Master with respect to the competition, offering an excellent trade-off between low running costs and high performance, with a combined-cycle fuel consumption of 8.7l per 100km*.

All three engine versions are available with a sixspeed manual gearbox or robotized transmission.

120hp (86kW) 2.0 16V (on New Renault Trafic LCV)

The 2.0 16V petrol engine has already proven its worth on several Renault models (Scenic, Renault Laguna and Espace). On New Trafic LCV it develops 120hp (88kW) at 4,750rpm and torque of 190Nm at 3,750rpm. It consumes 10.2l per 100km in a European combined cycle. The upgrade to Euro 4 standards involves precious-metal enhancement to the catalytic converter.

Higher torque with new six-speed manual gearbox

The 2.0 dCi and 2.5 dCi engines on New Trafic LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) and New Renault Master are coupled, as standard, with the new Renault six-speed manual gearbox, PF6, derived from the PK4 passenger-car gearbox. The new transmission has a torque handling capacity of up to 350Nm, and was developed to stricter specifications in terms of reliability and durability. The sixth gear brings many advantages, with wider aperture making for more advantageous use of the diesel engine potential (high torque from low engine speeds), and closer gear spacing making for lower rotation speeds and better use of the torque curve. The six-speed manual gearbox enhances acceleration in all intermediate gears while lowering fuel consumption and noise levels.

Enhanced driveability with new six-speed robotized transmission

Renault Trafic LCV and New Master are available with Quickshift, an upgraded version of the PA0 sixspeed robotized transmission already featured on previous generations of Trafic and Renault Master. The Quickshift transmission combines the much-appreciated efficiency of the previous-generation PA6 electro-hydraulic system with the durability of the new PF6 manual gearbox. Quickshift, a robotized transmission with sequential control, optimizes the transfer of engine power, thus lowering fuel consumption (by 0.5 to 1.0 litre per 100km in a combined cycle), reducing pollutant emissions, and enhancing driveability. The PA0 transmission has a torque handling capacity of 350Nm, compared to 320Nm for the previousgeneration PA6 unit.

The Quickshift gearbox is available on New Trafic LCV 2.5 dCi and on all three 2.5 dCi versions of New Master at launch and will be available in the 115hp 2.0 dCi version of New Trafic LCV in year 2007.

Low running costs

To address a customer base that is extremely sensitive to running costs, New Trafic LCV and New Master were designed with fuel economy, reliability and durability in mind. Fuel consumption is very low, and service intervals long (30,000 kilometres for M9R and G9U with and without particulate filter on New Master, and 15,000km for versions with particulate filter on New Trafic). Air and fuel filters are changed every 90,000km, and the accessories belt every 120,000km or every year. Outer panels are fully galvanized and wax injection is used in box sections, enabling Renault to offer a 12-year anticorrosion warranty (six years on New Master).
