| | | | Trafic and Master, sustained success since initial release
Renault Trafic enjoys benchmark status on the compact van segment, with worldwide sales of 233,480 since the model first appeared in late 2001 (79,560 in 2005).
On New Trafic, Renault continues its cooperation with General Motors Europe. Renault and Nissan began production of the Trafic compact van at the Nissan Barcelona plant in September 2002, under the Renault-Nissan Alliance. Today, the project covers three manufacturers - Renault, Nissan and GM - and the vans made at Barcelona can bear any of four badges: Renault, Nissan, or Vauxhall/Opel (like the vans from Luton).
Renault Trafic production in 2005 reached 79,863 units: 52,855 at the Nissan plant in Barcelona (Spain) and 27,008 at GM Europe's IBC Vehicles Ltd. plant in Luton (UK).
New Renault Master is made at the SOVAB plant in Batilly (France), which specializes exclusively in this vehicle. From initial release through to the end of 2005, Master production at the Batilly plant had topped 667,000 units. In 2005, the plant broke its all-time production record, producing 102,000 vehicles badged Renault, Nissan, Opel / Vauxhall or Renault Trucks. In 2005, Renault Master sales topped 78,000 worldwide.
Business Centres, an efficient international network for business customers
Renault's Business Centre network, addressing business customers, has played an instrumental role in Renault's successful offensive on the van segment. The 630 Business Centres in 16 European countries provide good local coverage, offering quality reception and advice from personnel specialized in light commercial vehicles. As well as a broad choice of vans and special vehicles, Business Centres also offer tailor-made finance solutions and service contracts. To ensure that customers enjoy uninterrupted availability of their work vehicles, Business Centres practise extended opening hours, no-appointment service slots, and provision of replacement vehicles.
Renault is extending its Business Centre network outside Europe. By the end of 2005, there were 15 specialist outlets in Turkey, 25 in Brazil, one in Singapore and three in Romania.
By 2008, the network will also have reached Central America and Asia.
