Overall, the petrol engine range is comprised of three powertrains - a 170hp (125kW) 2.0 16V Turbo with a six-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automatic transmission, and a 245hp (177kW) 3.5 V6 unit with a five-speed automatic transmission. The diesel range is comprised of four powertrains. In addition to the new 150 and 175hp (110 and 127kW) 2.0 dCi with a sixspeed manual gearbox and a particulate filter, and the 180hp (133kW) 3.0 dCi V6 with a six-speed automatic transmission, these include the 150hp (110kW) 2.2 dCi with a five-speed automatic transmission.

 In France, Renault Vel Satis starts at Euro 32,400 for the 2.0 16V petrol Turbo with a six-speed manual gearbox, and Euro 34,700 for the 150hp 2.0 dCi diesel, with a particulate filter and six-speed manual gearbox, which is the same price as the earlier 140hp 2.2 dCi, with a particulate filter and six-speed manual gearbox. The model carries a three-year warranty.
