Both the standard and upgrade head units retain key Scion audio system features such as Scion Sound Processing (SSP) where listeners can choose from three pre-set equalizer settings, satellite radio compatibility, a user-customizable welcome screen and Sound Retouch digital equalization which provides clearer CD sound quality.


Scion xA - Sporty and Safe Under the Skin

Scion xA is powered by a sophisticated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that features Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). The engine produces 103 horsepower at 6,000 RPM and 101 lb-ft. of peak torque at 4,200 RPM.

All buyers can appreciate the excellent fuel economy ratings that the Scion xA has: EPA city/highway mileage estimates of 32/37 mpg with the five-speed manual transmission and 31/38 mpg with the available four-speed automatic transmission.

Scion xA chassis features MacPherson struts with coil springs in the front and torsion beam axle rear suspension with toe-correcting geometry. The steering rack is mounted to a subframe to help neutralize noise and vibration.


Occupant protection in the Scion xA starts with a unique trapezoidal front body structure formed by the side member, dash cross member, instrument panel support bar and pillar brace. Additional steel reinforcements around the door openings help provide additional side protection. Standard passive safety features include driver and passenger front airbags, as well as head restraints and three-point seatbelts in all five seating positions. Front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear side curtain airbags are available as the only factory option.

Belying its low price, the Scion xA is equipped with standard anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD). The EBD system detects the differences in front- and rear-wheel speeds and distributes the proper braking force to all four wheels, and ABS helps to prevent the wheels from locking during severe braking conditions.


Versatile Interior of Scion xA

Scion xA brings a rich look and feel to the entry-level segment with an interior highlighted by metal-tone instrument panel trim and matching ventilation controls on the center console, stylish gauges and textured treatments on the doors, dashboard and seats.

The Scion xA features a distinctive center-mounted instrument cluster, high on the dash. Front sport seats provide firm support, and the 60/40 split-folding rear seats maximize cargo capability. The interior is as functional as it is stylish with seating for five and ample cargo room. Numerous storage bins include an illuminated translucent storage compartment in the center cluster and hidden under-floor storage in the cargo area. A standard cargo area cover helps keep valuables out of sight.

There are no base or upgrade models in the Scion xA line: all models feature a high-content mono-spec trim to deliver exceptional value. Standard features in Scion xA include air conditioning, power windows with one-touch auto down on the driver's window, power door locks and mirrors, intermittent windshield wipers and a rear window defogger.
