The first 2.2-litre D-4D engine inaugurates Toyota's revolutionary new concept for diesel engines, Clean Power, now possible through the adoption of the most innovative diesel technologies in the world, some of them unique to Toyota. Thanks to the carmaker's world-beating Toyota D-CAT (Diesel Clean Advanced Technology), the 2.2 D-4D Clean Power has the smallest combined NOx and PM emissions among all diesel engines on the market. However, the unit boasts a segment-beating level of power (177 DIN hp/130 kW), while torque ascends to 400 Nm, available through a wide rev range - from 2,000 to 2,600 rpm.
The other 2.2-litre engine develops 150 DIN hp (110 kW) and 310 Nm of torque between 2,000 and 3,200 rpm, further complementing the 2.2 D-4D Clean Power by providing a customer option in the mid-power range.
Besides providing high levels of performance, both engines target a low fuel consumption, unmatched by other units of similar power.
