| | | | Continuous Variable Camshaft Phasing A technical highlight of the new 140 PS 1.8 ECOTEC petrol engine: the unit has two continuously variable camshafts to optimize the charge cycle. Depending on the speed and load range of the four-valve unit, valve timing can be varied for optimal performance or consumption. The compact, hydraulic lightweight timing device rotates the camshafts in the proper direction for optimal positioning to the crankshaft at all times.
CBC (Cornering Brake Control) With sensitive regulation of the braking force on individual wheels, this ABS function compensates for any destabilizing yawing moments around the vertical axis when braking on a curve.
Crashbox This element is located between the bumper cross members and the body. Due to its design and construction, the crashbox has energy-absorbing deformation properties that prevent costly damage to supporting components in the event of minor collisions. The bolted-on crashboxes can be replaced easily and inexpensively.
Easy Entry Seats To ease entry for rear seat passengers, the front seats slide forward and then return to their original position thanks to a memory function.
Easy Load Innovative, power-operated loading system which keeps the Astra TwinTop's boot easily and readily accessible in top-down mode. At the touch of a button, the horizontally stacked roof parts in the boot are raised automatically by around 25 centimetres, so luggage can be comfortably loaded and unloaded when the top is down.
Electro Hydraulic Power Steering (EHPS) Energy-saving hydraulic pump activation by an electric motor on an as-needed basis. With all Astra TwinTop engines (except 1.6 TWINPORT) it is map-controlled, depending on speed and steering angle.
Electronic Stability Program (ESPPlus) Newest generation driving stability system with selective brake application on several wheels.
Follow-Me-Home Function Headlamps stay illuminated for 30 seconds after the vehicle has been turned off, guiding you to your front door at nightime.
Global Positioning System (GPS) Geostationary system of 29 active satellites. With the help of GPS, the navigation system determines the current location of the car and calculates the route to the destination based on a digital map. To increase the accuracy and reliability of GPS positioning, an electronic compass is installed in the corresponding Vauxhall infotainment systems (coupled navigation).
Graphic Info Display Monochrome, 4.2-inch screen in Astra TwinTop's centre console displays on-board computer data as well as infotainment and GPS Navigation systems information.
Hydroforming Forming technology: production of hollow body components made of steel using very high water pressure. Advantages: improvement in quality, reduction in weight. Used in Astra TwinTop's front subframe and A-pillar reinforcement.
