Vauxhall, Saab and Chevrolet fleet brand manager, Paul Adler said: "The new Astra TwinTop looks set to have real user-chooser appeal in the fleet market, due to the very competitive list prices and tax charges plus the wide variety of engines, including diesel, that are available."

Fleet experts agree with the Vauxhall view that the new TwinTop will be a firm favourite with company car drivers.

Martin Ward, national research manager at CAP Motor Research, said: "The new Astra TwinTop has enormous potential in the fleet market because it can serve as a regular business car during the week and a fun car at weekends.

"It will appear on far more fleet choice lists than the traditional soft-top and is a genuine four-seater. It's good-looking and looks set to be a winner."

You might expect a car with a roof system as complex as that of the TwinTop to be built in limited numbers by a specialist coachbuilder, but thanks to the adaptability of GM's Antwerp manufacturing facility it's actually built on the standard production line, alongside five-doors and Sport Hatches.

The decision to build the car in-house means Vauxhall can offer the car at incredibly attractive prices, while at the same time ensuring top quality.

Experts from CarTopSystems (CTS) who designed TwinTop's roof system work alongside the Antwerp production team to ensure that all Astra TwinTops meet exacting quality standards.

TwinTop bodies come along the production line with other Astra variants, but when it comes to fitting the roof they are transferred to a separate line where CTS technicians fit and test the roof mechanism. Once fitted, the roof is subject to a thorough water test to check for leakages, before it returns to the line for final inspection.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in the same high quality fabrics and plastics found in other Astra variants, but with a choice of unique seat fabrics and smart extra chrome detailing to mark it out from the pack. The fully-galvanised body is covered by a comprehensive 6-year anti-perforation warranty.
